The Certified Professional Cybersecurity Engineer (CPCE) License
What the license represents
A professional credential for engineers who can secure real systems, end-to-end, turning principles into hardened baselines, automating controls, and proving risk reduction with evidence mapped to the Defensible 10 Standards.
What you will be evaluated on
-
Engineering hardened baselines for servers, containers, networks, and cloud resources using core security principles.
-
Automating security in CI and CD with IaC scanning, SBOM validation, and gated pipelines.
-
Operating the Cybersecurity Controls Management Framework (CCMF) to implement, tune, and measure controls.
-
Running DRM and DTM sessions that make risks visible and drive control selection.
-
Building effective detection and response with SIEM, EDR, and IDS or IPS integrations.
-
Enforcing identity, access, and Zero Trust through policy, segmentation, and continuous test validation.
-
Practicing Verification and Validation with peer reviews, control effectiveness testing, and documented outcomes.
-
Writing concise executive summaries that show measurable risk reduction.
How you earn it
No multiple-choice exam. You submit a capstone portfolio and defend your work. A panel reviews three peer-attested case studies, a practical design challenge, and an oral defense. All artifacts must trace back to D10S domains and include quantitative outcomes.
Who it is for
Security engineers, cloud and platform engineers, DevOps and SRE practitioners, detection engineers and SOC leads, solution designers, security architects who build, and technical managers responsible for secure delivery.
Quick facts
-
CPL is included with the Pro Bundle (course + ebook + one CPL evaluation/capstone)
-
40 CPE credits are issued automatically with course completion

What is Certified Professional Cybersecurity Engineer (CPCE) Stamp?
The Certified Professional Cybersecurity Engineer (CPCE) Stamp is the official digital seal of recognition for professionals who have earned ISAUnited’s cybersecurity engineering professional license. Modeled after traditional engineering professional seals, this stamp signifies verified competence in building, integrating, configuring, and validating defensible cybersecurity systems.
The CPCE Stamp represents accountability for engineering execution, not just design intent.
Holders of the CPCE Stamp have demonstrated the ability to:
-
Engineer and integrate cybersecurity components, systems, and systems of systems, translating architecture and security requirements into operational configurations and enforceable controls.
-
Apply the Security Engineering Lifecycle (SEL) to guide build, integration, verification, validation, and operational assurance across cybersecurity domains.
-
Implement cybersecurity controls at interfaces and trust boundaries, including preventive, detective, and corrective mechanisms, with clear evidence of control placement and configuration.
-
Use Cybersecurity Engineering Concepts (CECs) as structured engineering decision methods to evaluate trade-offs, record rationale, and apply Component Integrity Engineering (CIE) when trust and containment are critical.
-
Perform Verification and Validation (V&V) using tests, telemetry, and operational evidence to confirm that systems meet acceptance criteria and reduce risk as intended.
-
Apply Design Risk Management (DRM) to identify engineering hazards, document mitigations, and record residual risk acceptance with traceable decision records.
Authorized use of the CPCE Stamp
The CPCE Stamp may be applied to cybersecurity engineering documentation produced or approved by the license holder, including CEC records, integration and configuration documents, interface control records, verification and validation results, DRM logs, and technical engineering reports.
Use of the CPCE Stamp signifies professional engineering accountability, traceability to the ISAUnited Defensible 10 Standards, and adherence to ISAUnited’s cybersecurity engineering licensing requirements and code of ethics.
