Defensible Performance, Professional Judgment, and Readiness
The ISAUnited Defensible Capability Score is the scoring model used in ISAUnited Cyber War Center capstones to evaluate performance through evidence-based review. It is used across the School of Engineering Cyber Defense, commercial cyber team simulations, and Certified Professional License (CPL) capstone pathways.
Each scoring report provides two views:
-
Technical Artifact Evaluation (Pass or Fail) that measures the quality of the submitted capstone artifacts across the Define, Design, Deploy, Detect, and Defend phases.
-
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (SKA) Capability Profile that evaluates disciplined practice, reasoning quality, and defensibility of professional judgment.
The result is a report that helps organizations and leaders assess readiness, identify strengths and areas for development, and make more informed decisions about cyber talent, team capabilities, and professional growth.

Defensible Capability Score Report
The ISAUnited Defensible Capability Score turns Cyber Capstone submissions into a structured readiness report for students, practitioners, cyber teams, technical leaders, and executives. Each score is based on submitted artifacts, evaluator review, evidence references, and demonstrated professional judgment.
Part 1: Technical Artifact Evaluation with Analysis & Evidence
Part 1 evaluates the five submitted capstone artifacts across the Define, Design, Deploy, Detect, and Defend phases to show whether the practitioner produced defensible cybersecurity work:
-
Scores the five submitted artifacts using a structured technical rubric
-
Maps artifact quality to the five capstone phases for clear review
-
Shows pass or fail results with evidence tied to the submitted work
What the report shows: phase scores, artifact evidence, total score, and a clear pass or fail result.
Part 2: Professional Capability Scoring Beyond the Deliverables
Part 2 evaluates the practitioner’s skills, knowledge, and abilities through the submitted capstone artifacts to show how they performed, not only what they produced:
-
Scores professional capability across seven evidence-based dimensions
-
Measures reasoning quality, judgment, discipline, and communication
-
Gives leaders a clearer view of practitioner maturity and defensible decision-making
What the report shows: a capability radar, SKA scoring by dimension, evidence references, and evaluator notes.
A Scoring Report for Practitioner Readiness, Craft Development, and Professional Growth
The Defensible Capability Score gives our students, CPL practitioners, and Cyber Teams a structured way to evaluate performance, professional growth, and cyber readiness through evidence-based capstone scoring:
-
Helps students understand strengths, gaps, and areas for development
-
Gives CPL practitioners a professional scoring record tied to defensible practice
-
Helps leaders assess talent readiness, capability gaps, and team maturity
