What will I Learn?

Cybersecurity Law and Digital Justice Program

Description

ISAUnited’s Cybersecurity Law and Digital Justice Program expands the School of Engineering Cyber Defense beyond technical design and adversary analysis into the consequences of cybersecurity. This program develops the Defensible Case Steward, a practitioner who can translate cyber incidents into clear, case-ready narratives and preserve evidence with discipline so outcomes can withstand scrutiny.

Students learn to connect incident response to lawful processes by building defensible documentation, evidence-integrity practices, and responsible escalation pathways. The program strengthens your coordination with counsel, compliance, executive leadership, regulators, and appropriate authorities, while maintaining ethical boundaries and avoiding evidence contamination.

The curriculum is designed for United States and international learners and teaches globally transferable concepts while respecting jurisdictional differences. It integrates ISAUnited’s standards and methods, including the Defensible 10 Standards, Technical Adversarial and Defensible Analysis foundations, and Threat Operations Functions based on adversary reasoning, so students understand both the intrusion reality and the justice process reality.

What is the Exam?

Certified Professional License (CPL) - Cyber Capstone Portfolio

Description

A focused, real-world scenario that lets you prove mastery through a concise, defensible submission. The Cyber Capstone is a solo, written, remote, and time-boxed to two weeks (10 business days) from assignment. Earlier submission is acceptable. There are no multiple-choice tests and no interviews.

What you will complete

  • Executive Summary (one page maximum): the incident, the consequence risk, and your approach to defensible outcomes

  • Incident Timeline and Facts Record: a clean narrative that separates facts, assumptions, and open questions

  • Evidence Preservation Plan: what must be preserved, in what order, and why

  • Chain of Custody Record: handling discipline and integrity notes for collected artifacts

  • Cross-Border Considerations Memo: data location, provider constraints, and cooperation strategy at a high level

  • Escalation and Reporting Plan: who to notify, when, and what information must be ready

  • Ethics and Boundaries Statement: what you will not do, and why that restraint protects defensibility

  • Presentation Deck: a concise 10 to 12-slide brief with speaker notes that walks through your submission; export a PDF copy

How it is evaluated

Your submission is evaluated using the ISAUnited Defensible Capability Score, a two-section scoring model based on written deliverables only.

Section 1 - Technical Artifact Evaluation (Pass or Fail), scores the submitted capstone artifacts across the Define, Design, Deploy, Detect, and Defend phases for technical completeness, correctness, traceability, and defensibility.

Section 2 - Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (SKA) Capability Profile (Professional Capability) evaluates how you performed through the capstone by assessing disciplined practice, reasoning quality, judgment, and communication across seven capability dimensions, with evidence references tied to the submitted artifacts.

Outcome
Successful completion satisfies the Capstone requirement for the ISAUnited Certified Professional License in your selected track.
