What will I Learn?

Defensible 10 Master Champion Course

Description

ISAUnited’s Defensible 10 Master Champion course prepares experienced cybersecurity professionals to build and sustain D10S knowledge within their organization through internal training, mentoring, and standards guidance.

Students learn a structured and repeatable method for training D10S Practitioners and Champions, explaining Parent and Associate Standards, reviewing learner work, guiding applied exercises, and reinforcing consistent standards interpretation.

The program also teaches Master Champions how to plan internal training, facilitate practical learning activities, mentor adoption teams, evaluate learner artifacts, support organizational onboarding, and maintain a sustainable D10S knowledge-transfer program.

The Master Champion serves as an internal organizational trainer and D10S subject-matter resource. The role does not replace technical owners, management authority, or risk decision-makers, and it does not authorize the delivery of public ISAUnited training without separate written approval.

What will I take?

BASIC Courses

B100

Course: Defensible 10 Standards Foundations

Field: Cybersecurity Essentials

This course introduces students to the Defensible 10 Standards and explains how the ten domains organize security responsibilities across enterprise and cloud environments. Students learn the purpose of each domain, the relationships among controls, requirements, and measurable acceptance criteria, and how to interpret a system diagram through the D10S lens.

B102

Course: Cybersecurity Core Principles

Field: Cybersecurity Essentials

A practical introduction to the ideas that anchor secure design, from confidentiality and integrity to least privilege, layered defenses, and verifiable operations. Learn how these principles shape choices in architecture, configuration, and daily practice across data centers and cloud services. Through real examples and guided critiques, connect each principle to measurable outcomes that reduce risk and produce resilient, trustworthy systems.

B104

Course: Cybersecurity Controls Management Framework

Field: Cybersecurity Essentials

This course teaches students how to build a clear, organized system for selecting, mapping, measuring, and maintaining security controls across enterprise and cloud environments. Students learn to translate policy goals into concrete requirements, plan evidence from the outset, and conduct ongoing checks that demonstrate that protections work in real-world operations.

B107

Course: Security by Design Foundations

Field: Cybersecurity Essentials

Security by Design Foundations teaches you to plan and review security like an engineer: set measurable goals, use simple design models to place controls, make sound trade-offs, add lightweight delivery guardrails, and produce evidence that your choices work. Built for both managers and technical teams.

CORE Courses

D10S303

Course: D10S Internal Instruction and Workforce Training

Field: Defensible 10 Standards

A core Master Champion course in the Defensible 10 Standards focused on internal instruction, workforce development, and knowledge transfer. Covers how to design role-based D10S training; teach standards accurately and consistently; facilitate applied learning for Practitioners and Champions; assess learner understanding and provide structured feedback; mentor internal teams; and sustain organizational D10S capability through repeatable training, onboarding, and knowledge continuity.

What is the Exam?

Cyber Capstone Portfolio

Description

A focused, real-world mission scenario that allows you to demonstrate internal D10S training and capability-building mastery through a concise, defensible submission. The Cyber Capstone uses a structured Mission Pack and is completed individually as a written, remote, time-boxed assignment over two weeks (10 business days). Earlier submission is accepted. There are no multiple-choice tests.

What you will complete

  • Artifact 1: Internal Training Project Brief and Scope
Define the organizational training objective, intended learners, selected D10S content, stakeholders, responsibilities, assumptions, constraints, and expected outcomes.

  • Artifact 2: Organizational Training Needs Assessment
Review the supplied organizational scenario, learner profiles, adoption status, and supporting evidence. Identify knowledge, interpretation, implementation, mentoring, and capability gaps affecting D10S adoption.

  • Artifact 3: Internal Training and Mentoring Package
Develop a structured internal training plan for Practitioners and Champions, including learning objectives, standards guidance, applied exercises, instructional materials, mentoring activities, and completion criteria.

  • Artifact 4: Learner Evaluation and Evidence Plan
Define how learner understanding, applied performance, submitted artifacts, and internal training outcomes will be evaluated, documented, reviewed, and improved.

  • Artifact 5: Organizational Capability Briefing
Summarize training needs, proposed instruction, mentoring priorities, evaluation results, capability gaps, and recommended next steps in a concise presentation deck with speaker notes.

How it is evaluated

Your submission is evaluated using the ISAUnited Defensible Capability Score, a two-section scoring model based on written deliverables only.

Part 1 — Master Champion Artifact Evaluation: Pass or Fail
Evaluates standards interpretation, instructional accuracy, training-plan quality, learner alignment, mentoring strategy, evaluation methods, evidence traceability, and organizational defensibility.

Part 2 — Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Capability Profile
Evaluates disciplined practice, instructional judgment, standards guidance, mentoring, learner evaluation, knowledge transfer, communication, and leadership, with evidence references tied to the submitted artifacts.

Outcome
Successful completion satisfies the Capstone requirement for the ISAUnited Certified Professional License in your selected track.
